What is Sandbox Madrid?
The Sandbox is an initiative of the Madrid City Council that turns the city into a controlled testing environment where public-private collaboration allows the promotion of innovative solutions.
Through this urban laboratory, the City Council opens the doors for companies, entrepreneurs and public sector entities to test their innovative projects under real conditions in a safe space.
The authorization to access the Sandbox will exempt from obtaining other authorizations from the Madrid City Council.

Independently of the calls for proposals, you can send us your preliminary idea, we will analyze it and help you to perfect it.

Requirements to participate in Sandbox Madrid
Projects:
- To provide innovation in the public interest that impacts the city.
- Have a sufficient level of technological maturity.
- Obtain the necessary authorizations (EU, national, regional) or justify your exemption. Authorization to access the Sandbox exempts you from other authorizations from the Madrid City Council.
From the promoters:
- To have the necessary resources to carry out the tests.
- Offer sufficient guarantees of safety and accessibility.
- Be up to date in the fulfillment of its tax and Social Security obligations.

2025-1
Aimed at public sector entities in order to encourage their participation in the technological development of the city.
Deadline for submission: Continuous.
Call for proposals aimed at private sector entities
2026-1
Aimed at all types of private sector developers interested in testing their innovative projects in a controlled and secure environment.
Call for applications closed
Submission deadline: Open from January 20 to March 11, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (local time in Madrid).
