Test Duration

Nine green spaces in the Villaverde district:
Avda. de Andalucía-Centro Comercial,
Avda. de Andalucía-Tertulia,
Avda. de la Felicidad, Ingenieros, Clara Schumann-Pilar Lorengar, Plaza Chozas de Canales, Tío Basilio, and Estroncio-Eduardo Minguito.
Villaverde district.

Purpose of the Test

The project aims to study how basalt dust—a byproduct of asphalt production in Madrid—can help capture CO₂ when applied to green spaces. When basalt dust comes into contact with water and CO₂ in the air, it undergoes a natural reaction (accelerated weathering) that transforms the CO₂ into stable compounds that are retained in the soil, thereby helping to reduce its presence in the atmosphere.
