On Thursday, Madrid City Council's Governing Board approved the Ordinance regulating the controlled testing environment for innovative projects in the city of Madrid, which will enable the capital to become a large 'sandbox', i.e., a safe space where different innovative products, services, and projects can be put into practice for a limited time and in a limited capacity.
The City Council developed these regulations after recognizing that innovative companies needed a regulatory environment that would facilitate the implementation of technological developments while ensuring technical viability and allowing them to collect data for future development.
In this way, the ordinance facilitates the innovation process by simplifying procedures and providing a real space in which to test solutions and projects. The ordinance will be implemented through various public calls for proposals promoted by the City Council, depending on the interest detected, with the aim of improving the quality of life in the city.
